The TOMSY2018 was held from 30 and 31 October 2018 at Permai Hotel, Kuala Terengganu organised by Institute of Oceanography and Environment (INOS). With the theme “Discovery of Ocean for Future Sustainability”, the first TOMSY was officiated by YBhg. UMT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Nor Aieni Hj. Mokhtar. A total of 100 including 10 international participants from China, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Vietnam joined the symposium. This symposium aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of ocean and marine sciences especially in the tropical areas. At the event, UMT also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Marine Data and Information service (NMDIS), China, which aims to conduct joint research and technical collaboration in Marine Big Data Platform.
